Did you know 60 percent of restaurants don’t make it past their first year and 80 percent go out of business within five years?! We’re here to change that!

Liven's mission is to develop a cutting-edge technology platform that empowers hospitality to innovate and transform through the digital revolution. We're building innovative technology online and taking it offline, reinvigorating memorable consumer experiences in the physical restaurant, delivered by the brands, powered by the Liven platform.

We believe it’s time for restaurants to get the balance of power back in their favor. So they finally get to own meaningful relationships with their customers, while also locking in revenue & cash flow from them ahead of time.

I know you’re thinking, sounds cool… but are these guys legit?! We think so! We’re a VC-backed startup with merchant partners including Calia, Din Tai Fung, Messina, Burger Project, Fratelli Fresh, CoCo Tea, New Shanghai, Lanzhou Beef Noodle, Papparich, NeNe Chicken, and 8Bit across Australia. We have 700,000+ app downloads and the Liven app is rated 4.9 on the app store. We also share the same seed and series A investors as Zoom, Facebook, Canva, Wish, Airbnb, Netscape, and Zynga; just to name a few.

New to Liven? Download the Liven app! We always value feedback and will undoubtedly ask for your ideas during interviews: https://bit.ly/2X4rNGG

About the Role

We are looking for an experienced Full-stack Software Engineer to join a cross-functional internal team of engineering, product, and growth experts. In this role, you’ll contribute to the end-to-end delivery of greenfield opportunities that complement Liven’s core product suite.

You will join a small team that enjoys the autonomy to define its own roadmap and explore new revenue opportunities, whilst leveraging and collaborating with Liven’s broader team, infrastructure, and restaurant partners. Ultimately, this team is responsible for the conception and fulfillment of radical new growth and revenue-yielding strategies, with a track record of having taken a prior product from inception to a million+ unique users in just a few months.

In this role, you will lead the frontend development of these initiatives, whilst contributing to the platform integrations underwriting the team’s ambitious product strategy. The first project you will work on is a SaaS project currently in stealth, but in its first week of beta saw over 10,000 unique users. We can’t say much about it here, but be prepared to have your say in its an ongoing development.

Overall, if you value autonomy, delivering genuine innovation for a struggling industry, and working alongside highly competent and motivated peers, this role will be of interest to you.

What You’ll Do

  • Lead the frontend development of an in-stealth SaaS platform
  • Drive the high-velocity development of experimental products within a small cross-functional team
  • Make pragmatic technical trade-offs that balance product iteration speed with overall system stability, technical debt, cross-platform optimisation and testing practices
  • Bridge the gap between high-fidelity product wireframes and actual technical implementation
  • Contribute to backend features and integrations when necessary

What You’ll Need

  • 3+ years related work experience
  • Fluency in frontend web technologies and testing practices; production experience with Vue.js and GraphQL / Apollo are highly desired
  • Confidence in designing new systems and applying your own experience to advise on the right trade-offs, design decisions, and raise flags if necessary
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Exposure to architectural patterns of a large, high-scale application

Bonus Points

  • Startup experience
  • Experience building platform integrations
  • Experience interacting with eCommerce APIs like Shopify
  • Recent experience with Progressive Web Apps
  • Willingness and/or experience managing freelancers

This role is offered as a full-time position with flexible working arrangements but a preference to be based in Sydney.  At the time of application, you should have the right to work in Australia to be considered for this role.
